We Wish You A Merry Christmas!

True to the song, I hope Christmas was very merry!

M and I have a tradition of starting our festivities off on Christmas Eve by a trip to Temple Square to see the lights and the nativity. And, of course, we always get hot chocolate to keep us warm!

I love how intricately they wrap every tree with a billion lights. It makes Temple Square SO beautiful and is the perfect way to get in the spirit of the holiday while feeling the Spirit and remembering what Christmas is truly all about!

Our next tradition is to wear our new pajamas! And we open a special present under the tree – a new board game. This year, our new game is Last Word. It’s super fun! Then we lay out our stockings so that Santa can bring us our surprises!

The next morning, we came out to the living room to discover our fun presents! We start by scoping out everything from Santa before we begin opening the presents under the tree from each other.

Another important tradition is our Christmas breakfast of crepes. M taught me how delicious they are with lemon juice and a little bit of sugar. This year, I experimented with lime juice instead – and it’s even better! Yum!

And then finally that leaves us with our traditional Christmas photo. We took some nice, proper ones. But this dorky, not-so-proper one made me smile. Merry Christmas!

The Most Tragic Day Of My Life

Tragedy struck today. At approximately 45 miles per hour.

This is our Izzy. Our adorable Nissan Rogue. I was in a left-turn lane after the protected green arrow changed to the unprotected green, and was pulled forward in the intersection waiting for a big enough gap in the traffic that I could turn. But the traffic never gapped and my light turned yellow and then red. The oncoming traffic was slowing and I began to turn so that I could get out of the intersection. As I turned, a car in the oncoming traffic decided to run the red – slamming into Izzy’s passenger side, rolling her over, engaging her airbags and destroying our amazing car.

I was trapped and they had to pry the door open to get me out. I was completely unhurt. Izzy sacrificed herself and kept me perfectly safe. But my heart is breaking for our cute little Izzy. There has been a lot of crying tonight. Even though she was a car, she really meant a lot to me. I swear she even had a personality. I will miss her SO much!!

That's So Boss!

I’ve been such a slacker with my blog lately. Two weeks ago, I attempted a major catch-up on the birthday activities, Thanksgiving festivities, and Christmas preparations. But in my mass-blogging, I missed a very important change in our lives…

Three weeks ago today, M embarked on a new adventure at his work: he’s now the boss. I’m so proud of him!

And as if it needed any further explanation, here’s some additional reasons it is awesome news:
  • At Enterprise, most employees are Management Trainees for about a year—M finished that segment in 8 months and passed the exam with an amazingly high score.
  • After passing that exam, most employees apply for an Assistant Manager position and work at that level for at least a year—M was an Assistant for only 5 months.
  • As a manager, M gets a car to drive!!
  • M is awesome. And hot!
